What role does trust play in social interactions in an increasingly digitalized world? Could new forms and qualities of trust even emerge? The Foresight Study "The Future of Trust in Digital Worlds", conducted jointly with Prognos AG for the BMBF, first describes the phenomenon of "trust" and explains mechanisms of trust formation. This is followed by an examination of the interactions with various possible development paths of tomorrow's digital sphere. Six "Future Spotlights" provide an insight into the future of trust in digital worlds: As alternative images of the future, they illustrate the different manifestations of digital trust in possible everyday situations.
