Exoskeletons, digital androids or synthetic cells: The dissolution of boundaries between technology and biology is not a new phenomenon, but it is reaching a new quality in current research. In this foresight study conducted jointly with Prognos AG for the BMBF, "Is this the Dawn of a hybrid Age? The Convergence of Technology and Biology", technological trends and societal drivers for the dissolution of boundaries between living organisms and technical components are identified. Based on this, six different future scenarios are drawn, embedded in six different societal contexts: In which areas of life might these technologies be used in the future? And how might people's everyday lives be represented or change as a result? The study is available as a short and long version at www.vorausschau.de.
